THE POWER OF COMMUNITY

We want to spotlight the amazing communities we know and love, and the women behind them.

Because finding your people as an adult isn’t always straightforward. There’s no one way it happens, it’s often a mix of shared interests, chance conversations and showing up to something new.

More often than not, it’s community that makes those moments happen. The spaces that bring people together, spark connection and shape the friendships that come with it.

So have a scroll. You might just find a new tribe or your next ride or die.

Also, some of these wonderful women have shared exclusive discounts for the She’s Electric community. Check your latest newsletter for the details. Not signed up? Subscribe at the bottom of the page and access the discounts.

The Women's Chapter

I’m Michelle Pughe-Parry, founder of The Women’s Chapter® (TWC), a B Corp certified movement and membership community for impact driven women in business.

For over 11 years, we’ve brought together more than 30,000 founders and senior professionals who believe success and purpose should go hand in hand.

At its core, it’s about connection, belonging and women championing each other.

What's your favourite unlikely women's friendship on TV or film?

Rachel, Monica and Phoebe from Friends. Three women who couldn't be more different in career, interests and outlook, yet they have shared values and show up for each other. They celebrate one another's differences and are better for them. They laugh a lot and don't take themselves too seriously. That's the kind of friendship I see women build inside TWC all the time and it never gets old. One of our members said that with TWC you can always hear the laughter from the door. That says it all.

Do you need different communities for different parts of your life?

Absolutely. We are multi-dimensional and need different kinds of relationships for support and fulfilment. The friend who makes you cry laughing at 11pm isn't always the one you call when your business is falling apart. The mentor who gives you straight talking business advice isn't always the one who holds you while you sob over a broken heart. It's important to have people you can be vulnerable with in the different facets of your life and for you to be that support for others.

If TWC was a TV friendship group, who would you be?

The Morning Show. Strong, ambitious women who drive real impact but lead with heart. They aren't afraid to challenge the status quo and their commitment to paving the way for future generations of women is unwavering. They are unapologetically themselves and stronger together.

The Club Preloved

I’m Lauren Cooley, founder of The Club Preloved, a community connecting sustainable brands, creatives and conscious consumers who believe in building things together, not alone.

What started as a business network has grown into something much deeper: friendship, belonging and people who genuinely champion each other in life, creativity and business.

Who’s your grown-up ride or die? What do you love most about them?

Honestly, it’s the women I’ve met as an adult, during motherhood and through communities like The Club. The friendships I’ve built in adulthood are rooted in shared purpose. They’re the people who send the “you’ve got this” message before a big launch, celebrate your wins like they’re their own and hold you steady when things feel hard. There’s something really powerful about friendships built by choice, not just circumstance.

If The Club was a film or TV friendship group, who would you be?

Probably a mix of Sex and the City and Girls Trip, strong personalities, big laughs, honest conversations, ambition, chaos (the good kind) and deep loyalty. There’s glamour and fun, but underneath it is real support and friendship.

Earth Set

I’m Amy Rennison, co-founder of Earth Set, a London-based climate community bringing together people across policy, finance, technology and industry.

We host events, conversations and a podcast exploring all aspects of the transition, doing our best to keep our community informed, engaged and connected.

Who’s your ride or die?

For me, it’s Fiona Howarth, my co-founder at Earth Set.

We’re not exactly an odd couple, but we do come at things from slightly different angles.

We’re both fairly nerdy, just in different directions. She’s more STEM; I’m more humanities & bookish. But we share a strong dislike of flim-flam, and we don’t pretend to understand things we don’t. In many ways, Earth Set is an extension of that, we choose topics because we genuinely want to get to grips with them and learn from people who do.

What I value most is her generosity and her instinct to bring people with her - she’s a very natural leader. She notices who might need encouragement or a way in, and acts on it. She also makes me laugh; recording the podcast inevitably descends into fits of giggles.

Do you need different communities for different parts of your life?

Probably, but the most valuable ones don’t fit neatly into categories, even if you lean into different ones at different times.

With Earth Set, we’ve ended up building something that sits across professional, intellectual and social life. People come because they care about climate, and because they want to engage properly with the substance, and with others who understand their work. But also because they want to have a laugh, a glass of wine, and a bit of gossip.

I feel incredibly proud (and slightly protective) of the Earth Setters - they’re a great group: thoughtful, committed and curious. Though at times our get togethers can feel a bit like a cross between Monty Python and a TED Talk that’s gone off-script.

Surrey Frills

I’m Claire Gibbens, co-founder of Surrey Frills, a multi platform community focused on style, beauty and health in Surrey. Alongside my role as a style and features writer at Premier Magazine, I curate fashion and wellness content while supporting independent businesses.

Through shopping markets, brand shoots and local collaborations, Surrey Frills brings people together and celebrates the best of local.

Who’s your grown-up ride or die?

Ahhhh, my best friend, sidekick, confidant, clothes-swapper. I first met Sophie at the school gates doing our mum thing, and we instantly got on. Not only is she fun, witty, thoughtful and la real mainstay, she’s incredibly knowledgeable about stuff I find boring and super practical, making her an ideal bestie. It’s a yin-and-yang that really works. I’ll style her clothes, and she’ll clean out my dishwasher drain. Win-win!

What I love most about her is her unwaveringly loyalty, closely followed by our ability to communicate in acronyms (eg- DSAB stands for 'don’t say anything but'….) and eye rolls! Eye rolls feature a lot!

What's your favourite unlikely women's friendship on TV or film?

Patsy and Eddie from AbFab is probably my favourite TV friendship - both bonkers, ridiculous and slightly unhinged but so connected at the core! Iconic fashion, too!

Six degrees

I’m Sarah Jepson, founder of Six Degrees, a membership platform for growth minded female founders and business owners.

Built by founders, for founders, it blends business coaching, wellness, peer support and strategic connection. Members access twice monthly coaching, weekly calls, 70+ masterclasses and a private platform, offering the strategy, accountability and community to grow with confidence and consistency.

Do you need different communities for different parts of your life?

Yes, but for me they still need to feel aligned.

I’m drawn to communities that are more holistic, because I don’t separate life and business as neatly as some people do. I’m part of a few different spaces, but they all share the same values: ambition, honesty, openness, friendliness, and collaboration over competition.

It’s the same reason I hired my coach - I knew she was right for me because she blends personal and professional coaching, while also being aligned with things that really matter to me, like spirituality and manifesting.

So yes, different communities can serve different parts of your life, but for me, the best ones support the whole person.
